As of January 1, 2023 the Town of Evans is now responsible for dog control matters in the Town of Brant.

Free Rabies Vaccination Clinics! 

Erie County to hold two free rabies vaccine clinics in May

  • Saturday, May 10, 2025, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Town of Tonawanda Highway Garage, 450 Woodward Avenue, Kenmore, NY 14217 (Located off Military, North of Kenmore Avenue) 
  • Saturday, May 17, 2025, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. School 84 (Parking Lot), 462 Grider Street, Buffalo, NY 14214 (Located off Kensington Avenue, on ECMC Campus) 

Registration is available at erie.gov/rabiesvaccine and appointments are required. Up to three pets will be accepted per appointment. Individuals who are unable to access online registration may call (716) 961-6800 during business hours to schedule an appointment.  

Dogs, cats and ferrets three months of age and older are eligible for a vaccination. Pet owners are asked to bring proof of their pet’s vaccination with them to the event in order to receive a three-year vaccination certificate; otherwise, a one-year certificate will be given. 

Dogs must be secured with a collar & leash or restrained in a carrier; cats and ferrets must be restrained in a secure carrier. Please do not use retractable or extended leashes.  

This page has been added to assist in the licensing and regulations affecting you and your dog.  The Town of Brant, as well as New York state require dog owners to license their dogs.  Owner is defined in our Town Code Under article I, subsection 79-2 as being:

Includes any person who keeps, harbors or has custody, care or control of a dog . Dogs owned by minors shall be deemed to be in custody and control of parents or other head of the household where the minor resides. Any person harboring a dog for a period of one week shall be deemed to be the "owner" of the dog for purposes of enforcing this Article.

 

The Town of Brant annually appoints a Dog Control Officer be on call 24 hours a day to accept calls from residents regarding dog related issues.
