Report of Special meeting of the Brant Town Board which was held on Friday August 31, 2007 at 7:00 PM, 1294 Brant North Collins Rd, Brant, New York at the Town Hall. ATTENDANCE: Supervisor Leonard Pero Councilman Jeffrey W. Gier Councilwoman Roseann Turner Councilman John J. Chiavetta Thea A. Ells, Town Clerk John C. Grennell, Town Attorney Attendance: Charles Arrigo, Joe Gardyjan, Kirk Ritz, George Cordia, Dave Gierlinger, Christine Gierlinger, Peter F. Loretto, Clark Borngraber, Mr. Kauzala Pledge to the Flag: Meeting called to order by Supervisor Pero. Clerk verified that this special meeting was posted on Wednesday August 29th at the Town Hall, Brant Post Office, Town web site and the Town Crier was notified. Councilman Chiavetta moved for the adoption of resolution #083107-189 seconded by Councilwoman Turner, A roll call vote was taken: 3 Ayes 1 Nays Councilman Chiavetta Voting Aye Councilwoman Turner Voting Aye Councilman Gier Voting Nay Supervisor Pero Voting Aye ADOPTED: RESOLVED THAT THE BRANT TOWN BOARD ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF JOHN D. HOCK PART TIME POLICE OFFICER FOR THE TOWN OF BRANT- Hock pledged oath with Town Clerk Supervisor Pero announced that the Board is invited to attend a meeting @ 7:30 PM with FNAGBL Friday September 7th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church concerning the Energy Fair. Pero reported that he ordered plates for Memorial park dedication, firemen?s appreciation, and donation plates for the park. Supervisor Pero moved for the adoption of resolution #083107-193 seconded by, Councilman Gier, A roll call vote was taken: 4 Ayes 0 Nays Supervisor Pero Voting Aye Councilman Gier Voting Aye Councilwoman Turner Voting Aye Councilman Chiavetta Voting Aye ADOPTED: WHEREAS, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals serving Erie County is the lead agency applying for a grant from the Maddie?s Fund to support community wide collaborations for adoption guarantee organizations, traditional shelters, animal control agencies, and private practice veterinarians working together to end the killing of healthy and treatable shelter dogs a cats; and WHEREAS, the Brant Town Board wishes to express its support for this application and also appreciation for the excellent work performed by the Erie County SPCA in the community in support of our animal control program; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Brant Town Board and the Animal Control Program will support the efforts of the Animal Alliance or Western New York and the Erie County SPCA through partnering with them to save the lives of cats and dogs through ongoing communication, record keeping and best practices; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is authorized to sign the Statement of Support prepared by the Erie County SPCA; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk forward certified copies of this resolution to the Western New York Delegation, the Town Supervisors and City and Village Mayor of Erie County Councilman Chiavetta moved for the adoption of resolution #083107-194 seconded by, Councilwoman Turner, A roll call vote was taken: 4 Ayes 0 Nays Councilman Chiavetta Voting Aye Councilwoman Turner Voting Aye Supervisor Pero Voting Aye Councilman Gier Voting Aye ADOPTED: RESOLVED TO AUTHORIZE SUPERVISOR PERO TO SIGN A LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR THE SPCA Councilman Chiavetta moved for the adoption of resolution 195-07, seconded by Councilwoman Turner 5 Ayes Pero, Gier, Turner, Chiavetta 0 Nays ADOPTED: FOR THE TOWN BOARD TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS PERSONNEL MATTERS AND TO CONDUCT POLICE CHIEF INTERVIEWS @ 7:10 PM Councilman Chiavetta moved for the adoption of resolution 196-07, seconded by Councilman Gier 4 Ayes Pero, Gier, Turner, Chiavetta 0 Nays ADOPTED: FOR THE TOWN BOARD TO CLOSE EXECUTIVE SESSION @ 8:30 PM Supervisor Pero made a statement concerning the procedure from Civil Service and informed those in attendance that the Board sent out 12 cover letters from the civil service list received July 18th and we received 8 answers with two that were interested in the position, the interviews were held this evening. Councilwoman Turner moved for the adoption of resolution 199-07, seconded by Supervisor Pero 4 Ayes Pero, Gier, Turner, Chiavetta 0 Nays ADOPTED: TO REOPEN THE AUGUST 31st TOWN BOARD MEETING AT 9:25 PM Councilman Gier moved for the adoption of resolution 200-07, seconded by Councilman Chiavetta 4 Ayes Pero, Gier, Turner, Chiavetta 0 Nays ADOPTED: TO SET SALARY FOR PROVISIONAL CHIEF OF POLICE MICHAEL FELSCHOW AT $15,600.00 ANNUAL SALARY. OFFICER DAVE HOCK AT $30,000.00 ANNUAL AND JOHN GRENNELL AT $9,225.00 ANNUAL Supervisor Pero stated that the Chief pay was included in the cover letter and that civil service approved the salary for Officer Hock.
